Lahore Qalandars is one of the five teams playing in Pakistan Super League 2016. As indicated by the name this team is of the famous city of Pakistan that is Lahore. Pakistan Super League is the first league being played in Pakistan which is just like other T20 leagues all over the world. It was decided that 5 teams will play in the first season of Pakistan Super League and Lahore Qalandars became the team from Lahore.
Fawad Rana, famous industrialist, owner of Qatar Lubricants Company holds the ownership of Lahore Qalandars.
The head coach of Qalandars is Paddy Upton. Ijaz Ahmad and Shahid Aslam are batting coach and assistant coach respectively.
The basic colors of Lahore Qalandars are red and white. As indicated by the name, the team is from Lahore and Lahore is famous for its rich heritage. Fawad Rana suggested its name Qalandars to indicate the Sufism and saints and to personify the national heritage of Sufi culture in Lahore.
The name ‘Qalandar’ was also suggested because the letter ‘Q’ indicates that the team is of Qatar Lubricants Company. In the logo of Qalandars, the famous pose of a swirling saint is indicated with 2 stumps on the right of the logo.
The kit of Lahore is provided by Adidas. The kit has a red with white collar and red trouser with white side linings. The logo of the Lahore Qalandars is at the top left side of the shirt at the front. No doubt, Lahore Qalandars have a good choice to choose a decent but attractive kit.
Famous Sufi singer, Asrar, has sung the official anthem of the Qalandars. The spirit of Sufism and passion for cricket both can be observed from this marvelous song named as “Qalandar Laal”.
